Special needs

From the Director’s Desk
In August 2009, Al Injaz Private School took another leap in their journey in providing education that encompasses all children, irrespective of their uniqueness and diversity. Recognizing the growing need for Special Education services in Oman, the Section for Special needs has been established to cater to the students whose academic and developmental needs cannot be met through the regular mainstream educational system.
The strength of the school has grown considerably over these years. Every student is assessed and an individual education plan (IEP) is drawn up which recognizes the strengths and abilities of the students, using them to enable growth in areas of weaknesses. The special educators work in close cooperation with the parents to ensure the overall development of the children. The section also helps parents to collaborate with other professionals like doctors, counsellor, therapists and so on to get the best possible care for each student.

A unique feature of the section for Special needs is the opportunity to integrate the students into regular classrooms for a part of the day. Every student from the Section gets the opportunity to interact with the main stream children through regular assemblies, events and recreational activities. Academic integration is done for students according to their levels after a thorough assessment done by the team comprising of Special Educators and therapists.
We believe that working in partnership with parents throughout the child’s schooling is extremely important. Over the past years, the parents have expressed their satisfaction at the milestones their children have achieved. I invite prospective parents to arrange a visit, to understand the range of provisions at the section for special needs, and to see our facilities.
I look forward to meeting you.
